In the deep mountains and cold forests of the Northern Continent, there is a powerful dragon who had kidnapped an entire village worth of people, all to attract the most powerful warriors of the land as it was looking for a challenge, something to push them over the edge to achieve higher growth. They had kidnapped beasts and humans, young and old as captives for this goal, imprisoning them in a mountain with many other caves inside, being able to serve as a sort of jail cell for the dragon to make prison bars and doors to keep the people in.
This dragon was huge, almost the size of a 6-story building, and had blackish-gray and silver scales while also possessing earth and rock-bending powers. They also wielded a giant axe, capable of cleaving hills and splitting lakes with their absurd strength. So it's no wonder why a colossal, axe-wielding dragon would be looking for stronger foes since weaker adventurers immediately get eviscerated at first contact.

But it had now been a year since news of this dragon that held a village hostage broke out. People didn't believe it at first, thinking that the one and only survivor who escaped the kidnappings was nothing more than a bandit trying to guide adventurers to their trap. But once an intermediate party of adventurers came to investigate, the survivor was quickly proven right when only two out of twelve party members returned. And so a five-star monster-hunting bounty was placed on it.
The bounty quickly attracted the attention of many adventurers, especially since the reward for the dragon's defeat increased for every failed mission. Unfortunately, it has now been a year since the kidnappings happened, and everyone now knew that the rescue was a fool's errand, as well as considering the fact that all the captives had probably starved to death at that point. However, that didn't stop a righteous, humble knight from trying their hand at the quest, hoping to at least try and give closure to the relatives of the village even if he did not slay the monster.

"Hah! That's the funniest joke I've heard all week."

And this knight was named Felix. Felix is a blue dragon beast with gleaming scales, black horns, and good stature, he stands at a respectable 6'5 and hailed from a kingdom to the east of the continent. This knightly dragon was searching for any towns in distress, and since he was an expert-rank adventurer, he had no trouble solving some troublesome quests around the continent. And through this problem-solving, Felix was able to climb the ranks quite quickly. His combat prowess is nothing to scoff at either, because even though this dragon had no magic, they made up for it with intense physical strength, able to punch boulders into dust and fight many monsters barehanded.

After saying goodbye to the pessimistic guild clerk, Felix made his way to his destination, eager to fight this colossal dragon and save their hostages. Felix wouldn't fight barehanded, obviously, and he had quite the strange weapon to compliment his absurd strength. And that weapon as a magic rifle, enchanted with lightning, shoots thunderbolts in exchange for lightning crystals which are used as its ammo source. The end of the rifle’s barrel also had a sturdy bayonet, having been able to pierce giant dragons before, but the knight was a bit anxious that it might not work on the dragon they were looking to fight.
The rifle itself was made of a very durable metal which also made it quite expensive. Before the rifle, Felix had used metal claws and a tail blade to fight. The knight was truly seasoned in all types of combat, even being crafty with his rifle once when he ran out of ammo and instead used the stock of the rifle as a sturdy club. However, with all this equipment, Felix still wasn't sure if he could actually take down a massive, earth-bending dragon, but he held his head high and continued to his destination. The dragon would take a carriage to the nearest town where the dragon resided and continue on foot from there.

After once again being belittled for talking about the stone dragon, Felix eventually received kindness and was handed a map of where the mountain exactly was. Halfway to the mountain, the path up started to be lined with giant stones, sort of like a guide up to the death of those who wish to challenge the monster that rests inside.
The path gradually had an incline as Felix headed toward the mountain, making it a bit hard to try and climb, especially since dawn was nearing when Felix finally made it. A few hours later it was now fully nighttime, roughly 7 PM, forcing the knight to light a torch to guide their way. It was now the final trek to the opening of the mountain, with whatever was left of the beaten path being riddled with broken equipment which Felix faintly noticed with his torch.
“Huff… huff… I’m finally here… And- Woah! It’s right there!”
As soon as Felix took the last step up the mountain and arrived at the cave said to be located on top, the knight quickly saw a giant sleeping dragon. Not only that, but Felix saw a few small cave jail cells which housed many sleeping hostages. "Hey… Psst! Young cat… Wake up…"
"Ehh? What? Ah! An adventurer! We're saved!"

Since Felix was basically mere moments of being found out, the powerful knight immediately punched the stone jail cell, waking up everyone in the giant cave and letting the hostages out. However, there were ten of these cells, and after freeing only one, Felix was immediately greeted by a claw swipe, throwing him into a wall while the now awake dragon roared in annoyance. The knight was easily sent flying by the swipe, but they managed to reposition their body mid-air and jump off the wall they were hit towards and land relatively unscathed.
"An adventurer? It's been a few months since one came to die here! I thought the people of the outside had given up on rescuing my meals!"
