Under a giant fortress situated deep in the mountains while overseeing a sea and its shore town lies a secret containment facility for monsters. But unlike the usual prisons of the modern era, the containment facility was reinforced with magic, with whatever was being kept inside was kept inside using metal plates and reinforced glass by blacksmiths which would have been quite expensive at the time. This containment facility is used by every continent of the world to store both dangerous items and relics, as well as near immortal or powerful monsters that were simply too strong to defeat or could not be defeated currently. And in this magic facility, a new guard was about to be stationed and was currently being briefed on the first day of their job.

"Bala, I hope you’re prepared for your… err… duty. Your resistance to charms and tricks is quite impressive. I’m sure you’d be able to handle your assignment. Besides, we do allow guards to bring whatever they can to entertain themselves, especially books.”
“Thank you, sir.”
“I hope you won’t be discouraged by what monster you’ll be overseeing for three months.”
“No, sir.”
“Even after the rumors you’ve heard from the other candidate guards during your employment?” 以上内容来自hlib.cc。更多中文H小说尽在hlib.cc。
“I think I can handle it.”
“Alright. Remember to check the clock in case you miss your lunch break.”
The name of this guard was Bala, a 20-year-old human who was an expert adventurer from the east looking for a simple yet well-paying job to get him a head start for when winter eventually rolled around. Humans and beasts have quite varying jobs due to the obvious physical advantages some species have over humans, but Bala was of alright physique and had quite the deadly ability of poison magic, which was great for subduing any living thing. And so he was assigned to one dangerous containment cell, but he was more than confident to be assigned to it.
“Damn… this place is actually kind of nice. Similar to those modern apartments in the central capital… I wonder how technology will eventually progress?”

The containment chamber that Bala was assigned to already had a small desk and couch for him to work with, along with a leftover reading stand and a few pencils. The room was not lit up by candles and torches like a crude dungeon but was lit up by lightning crystal light bulbs, which were usually only found in lavish buildings or the most advanced cities or kingdoms around. And not only that but there was a neat lamp to use at the desk if Bala ever wanted to read at lights out.
“And this must be the monster…”
And the monster Bala was tasked to oversee was quite the interesting one. They were a green wolf beast named Liso, wearing just the average cotton clothing you’d find on any fine citizen of a town. But the very thing that stood out to them was their towering height and outstanding handsomeness, standing more than 8 feet tall could definitely cause many females to pass out if he were to escape.
“So, you’re my new guard? Interesting…”

“Come on, at least tell me your name! We’ll get along quite nicely!”
“...”
“Huh, you mustn’t be a talkative type. I’m sure you’ll open that mouth of yours once you’re really bored.”
Liso was a hypnotizingly charismatic wolf, with the immense danger he could cause being more apparent due to the fact that he was locked up in such a secretive facility. He was once a court advisor, and a very good one at that, managing to convince royal families to make both the best and the worst decisions of their bloodline as if he was controlling them directly and wanted to see what the outcome of every good and awful decision was. In truth, he was secretly a demon, a very powerful one too, so when one kingdom finally caught wind of Liso’s true identity, they managed to subdue the demon but were unable to kill him, hence why he was locked up instead.

“Still not talking? Oh well, that’s fine. Go read a book, or whatever the last guy did."
Having been informed of the danger that Liso posed, Bala was not interested in trying to converse with the manipulative demon and simply ignored their advances to start a conversation through the glass wall that separated them. Bala's job was quite simple, as all he needed to do was to make sure that the magic seals that kept Liso in would be replaced before they expired, as well as give the tall green wolf their meals of surprisingly basic food. It was currently 9 AM, and Bala and Liso would be sharing breakfast together, but Bala turned his desk to face the wall to avoid eye contact with the charming wolf.
"Damn, am I really going to be stuck with you for the next few months? You won't even turn to look at me."
"..."
"You humans are so arrogant! And you're expending the patience of the only one you'd be able to talk to for the rest of your time here!" 以上内容来自hlib.cc。更多中文H小说尽在hlib.cc。
"..."
But even after all the taunting Liso was doing, Bala ignored the shouts of the wolf through the glass wall and continued eating. The two eventually finished, with Bala seeing that Liso was quite used to his prison life and had already obediently set his dirty dishes through the slot that transferred food from the outside and into his cell. After sending away their dirty plates to a passing janitor, Bala finally turns his desk to face Liso, but he still does not converse with the wolf and even avoids eye contact.
"Fucking newbie… You can't keep ignoring me forever!"
Yet, Bala continued to ignore Liso, eventually heading out for his lunch and returning only to start reading a book instead. Liso's previous guards were all talkative enough to keep the charismatic demon entertained, enough so that his manipulative tendencies were kept at bay. But since Bala did not want to entertain him, Liso would try to use his power to get Bala's attention, which of course failed miserably due to the magic seals that suppressed his magic.

Night eventually set inside the windowless room, with Liso intently looking at Bala while sitting on his bed. But Bala was obviously there to watch the wolf and did not go to sleep until Liso did so. Liso also didn't need much sleep as he was a demon, but Bala already had experience staying up late like the wolf. And really all Liso was doing was wasting time like his guard, so he eventually went to sleep in his cell. His cell was just as furnished as his guard's but was obviously made for someone his size. Liso would eventually fall asleep, allowing Bala to rest for the night as well, getting to wake up early to go read a book while waiting for breakfast to roll around.
"Still not gonna talk to me, huh?"
"Sigh… What the hell do you want? I know what you're capable of, so don't try your mind games on me."
"Aha! So you finally want to talk!"

"Anyways, what can I do to convince you to let me out?"
"I knew it was a mistake talking to you."
"Hold on, hold on! I was kidding! I know you're not stupid enough to do such a thing!"
"Damn, I need to ask my boss how I can suppress the noise through this damn glass…"

"Heh, the magic exists for that, but they haven't developed it into this cell yet!"
Even though Bala knew it was a mistake to even converse with Liso, he didn't expect that Liso was immediately set on escaping, so he'd ignore the demon again for the rest of the week until Saturday came. And Saturday was actually the day when the magic seals on Liso's cell would be replaced, as they would lose power by Monday and hadn't been replaced for two months.
"You really shouldn't replace those seals. They still work, you know?"
"But you know they'll expire soon."
"Damn…" 以上内容来自hlib.cc。更多中文H小说尽在hlib.cc。
"Just keep quiet and rot in there."
"Wow! So rude!"
Bala and Liso were basically the opposites of each other; Bala was reserved and quiet while Liso was hyperactive and sociable. But Liso's behavior was of course attributed to his cunning charisma and was simply trying to convince Ba
